A custom WordPress website delivering a strong digital presence for an Australian construction firm.
Chemical Grout Injection (CGI) is a Perth-based construction specialist providing chemical grout underpinning, soil retention, and foundation stabilisation services across residential, commercial, and civil sectors in Western Australia. The client required a modern, professional website that could clearly communicate their expertise and support business growth.
An initial review of the existing website revealed several limitations affecting both usability and brand perception. The design was outdated and did not reflect the technical expertise and professionalism of the company.
The website lacked a clear content structure, strong calls to action, and trust-building elements such as detailed service breakdowns and project-focused information. While the site was functional, it was not optimised to guide users or generate enquiries effectively.
Content management was also challenging due to a rigid backend structure, making updates and future scalability difficult. Additionally, the website needed better responsiveness and performance optimisation to improve user experience across all devices.
I identified the following goals for the new CGI website:
Apart from these overall website goals, specific design and functional solutions were defined in the following “Target Audience” section.
To better understand industry standards and best practices in construction and foundation services, I researched multiple construction and civil engineering websites, particularly those providing underpinning and soil stabilisation services. I took detailed notes on design patterns, content structure, trust-building elements, and user engagement strategies.
I also analysed competitor websites within the Perth and broader Australian market. This research helped define a clear direction for CGI’s website, identifying what should be included to enhance credibility, improve user experience, and generate enquiries, as well as elements to avoid that could reduce professional appeal.
I defined property owners, builders, and construction professionals in Perth and Western Australia who are looking for foundation stabilisation, soil retention, or chemical grout underpinning services as the target audience for CGI.
This helped in designing content, layout, and calls-to-action that address their specific needs, concerns, and expectations while building trust and showcasing CGI’s expertise.
I recommended the development of a completely new website for CGI, built from scratch with a custom design, focusing on trust-building, service showcase, and lead generation.
The website was designed to:
After finalizing target audience, project goals, and client requirements, I started working on the design for CGI’s new website.
The focus was on creating a clean, professional, and modern layout that clearly highlights services, past projects, and trust-building elements. The design also considered user flow to ensure visitors can easily find information and take action.
CGI wanted a website that effectively showcases their specialist construction services and generates new client enquiries. For that reason, I focused my design and content efforts on creating clear service sections, project highlights, and strong calls-to-action to guide visitors toward contacting CGI.
I started the design process by creating wireframes first. They helped me validate various page layouts, service sections, calls-to-action, and enquiry forms without spending time on color schemes and typography. This ensured a clear structure for the website before moving to visual design.
The CGI website was developed on WordPress with a custom theme and ACF, making content management simple and user-friendly.
The website was optimised for fast loading times, smooth performance, and full responsiveness across all devices. W3C validation and SEO best practices were implemented to improve search visibility and overall user experience.
The website was optimised for search engines with proper on-page SEO, meta tags, and keyword-focused content. Schema markup was implemented to improve search visibility and enhance how the website appears in search results.
The website was developed following WordPress coding standards with secure, clean, and maintainable code. Security best practices were implemented to protect the site from vulnerabilities and ensure long-term reliability.
With 4 years of experience in building WordPress websites, I have built an extensive website quality and SEO checklist. I used the checklist to further perfect the website.
That's not all, I paid special attention to every detail while developing CGI’s website to ensure top performance, usability, and maintainability. Click here to see the full list of development best practices I follow.
The new CGI website delivered excellent results for the client. Some highlights include:
CGI was extremely satisfied with the new website. The client appreciated the modern design, improved functionality, and easy-to-manage backend. They noted that the website not only elevated their brand image but also helped generate more enquiries and build trust with potential clients across Western Australia.
